Procedures for Betting in Roulette |
|
 |
Placing a bet at the roulette table begins when the dealer declares “Place your best.” Betting continues while the ball rotates on the roulette wheel. Players can no longer bet when the ball starts to land and the dealer states “No more bets.”
Like in the online Texas Holdem Game, every roulette table has betting limits. The difference is that the betting limits in roulette are described in a specially marked area to the right of the betting grid and in poker they aren't.
Players can either place inside or outside bets. These two bets vary in terms of payout and numbers to bet on. The two kinds of roulette bets are discussed more fully in the succeeding topics to give you a more thorough knowledge of each one.
Inside Roulette Bets
Bets placed within the numbered grid of the roulette table layout are called inside bets. There are several types of inside bets as follows:
* Straight-up bet: a wager placed on only one number. The chip is placed in the center of a numbered square.
* Split bet: a bet placed on two adjacent numbers where the chip is placed on the line in between said numbers.
* Street bet: betting on three numbers aligned horizontally. Chip is placed on the perimeter of the outer limits of the numbers.
* Corner (or square) bet: a 4-number bet. The player puts the chip on the intersecting lines between the four numbers.
* Six line bet: a bet covering six numbers or two lines. The chip is positioned at the edge of the intersecting lines.
Listed below are additional bets uncommon to all roulette games but are used in American-roulette tables:
* Five number bet: a bet which has five numbers: 0,00,1,12 and 3
* Trio bet: a wager when a player can only bet on the numbers 0,1,2 or 00,2,3.
Outside Roulette Bets
As the name implies, outside roulette bets are bets are placed on the outer area of the betting grid. Wagers include a group of numbers.
* Low bet” a bet that the winning number will be anywhere from 1 to 18, which are the low numbers, hence the term “low” bet.
* High bet: a bet that the roulette ball will settle on any of the high numbers (19 to 36).
* Red or Black bet: betting that the ball will land on either a red or black square.
* Even or Odd bet: a bet placed on odd or even numbers.
* Dozen bet: a bet on either the first (1-12), second (13-24), or third (25-36) dozen numbers. Payout is 2:1.
* Column bet: betting on 12 numbers located on any of three vertical lines on the roulette table such as 1-4-7-10 on the first line all the way down to 34. Place the chip on the last number of this series.
The French-style roulette table also uses “call bets” (also known as called or announced bets). Playing roulette with extra call bets requires knowledge about their payouts and recognizing the odds.
Code of Behavior in Betting
As with any other casino game such as blackjack betting etiquette must also be followed in roulette concerning the casino, the dealer, and the other players at the table. Some of these rules are listed as follows:
* Sit at a roulette table only when you already know the roulette rules and our roulette tips so you do not bother the dealer with a lot of questions.
* Bet only when it is permissible to do so. Wait until after the dealer has said “Place your bets” and until after he states that no more bets are allowed.
* Do not touch the table layout and the chips wagered after the dealer has said “No more bets.”
* Do not touch the other players’ chips and their bets.
* Allow the dealer to handle payouts and by no means remove the winnings from the table yourself.
* Show consideration for other players. Do not smoke if there are non-smoking players at the table.
* Be courteous and do not shout at the casino.
* Do not forget to give the dealer a tip.
